Old stoves´ restoration

We have been engaged in renovation of original antique stoves for more than 30 years. We restore all sorts of top-fed solid fuel stoves made between 1820 and 1940 from decorative cast iron, or even in combination with sheet metal parts and fireclay lining. Our specialisation is in restoration of original, so called “American stoves”.

The stoves renovated by us are fully functional and serviceable. All the work done and procedures leading to a complete stove restoration are on the highest professional level. For new parts, we cooperate with the best iron foundries in the Czech Republic. The individual parts are then hand made in one piece small scale production.

We appreciate the trust and contentment of our clients whose historical stoves we have restored. We also believe that the fact that in all those 30 years there was not a case of complaint speaks for the quality of our work.

Renovation of so called “American stoves” is what we consider the most challenging.

Renovation procedure

1. After having dismantled the whole stove, it is necessary to clean all parts of rust, dirt, paint layers etc. to the cast iron.
2. Decorative cast iron parts, so typical for „American stoves“, need to be ground, mirror polished, then they are electrolytically nickeled and polished again.
3. The base of an „American stove“ is its cast iron body, where the burning takes place. The body is, after an exchange or service of individual damaged parts, filled with stove-fitter paint and the joints are tied together by fireproof mastic.
4. A typical feature of an “American stove“ is also the cast iron doors on three sides of the stove, which have to be fitted with new high-quality natural mica plates.
5. After reassembly and polishing, the stove is again fully functional and can serve as a valuable decoration of every interior.
